Quality Control Technician

General Description:
The Quality Control Technician is responsible for the inspection and testing of manufacturing
processes and products to ensure the product quality. The Quality Control Technician will work
with a variety of inspection and test equipment and methods, processes and products, ensuring
proper procedures are being followed and documented in order to maintain product quality and
records traceability. The Quality Control Technician will also assist to insure nonconforming
product is appropriately identified and removed from the production flow until such product can
be dispositioned.
Responsibilities
Job Responsibilities:
Responsible for monitoring and verifying critical control points (CCP).
Responsible for monitoring and product food safety and quality throughout the manufacturing process.
Responsible for performing sanitation verification and allergen testing on equipment and other areas required.
Experience in building pallets with stock and breaking down stock to fill independent orders.
Responsible for the correct recording and filing of all relevant record logs and Documentation.
Ensures the correct recipe guidelines for products are met during processing.
Ensures employees are following all Food Safety and worker safety practices.
Ensures and educates employees on food safety and SQF standards.
Responsible to issue disciplinary action when directed.
Loading, unloading, shipping, and receiving warehouse items.
Compare the quantity, quality, labeling and address with customer order to ensure outgoing shipments are complete and correct.
Report’s shortages, damages, and mis-shipments.
Follow through on set processes and ensure adherence to good manufacturing practices (GMP), food safety, Safe Quality Food SQF) standards and product quality standards.
Collect product samples for Product Development, lab retains and the laboratory when directed.
Perform inspections on Products, Equipment and Machinery.
Maintain accurate documentation of quality inspection results
Ensure incoming materials are in compliance to required specifications.
Ensure outgoing products are in compliance with required specifications.
Ensure production personnel are following proper procedure for ongoing production checks
Assist with training and instruction for production operators in QA measuring procedures
Development and maintenance of quality procedures and work instructions
Provide management with detailed quality reports as required – daily, weekly, monthly, etc.
Monitor production processing via random QA audits
Assist with problem solving – root cause analysis – corrective actions

Work Environment:
In performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; dust, airborne particles, loud noises and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud; ear protection is required.
Physical Demands of the QA Technician:
While performing the duties of this job, the QA Technician must be able to stand for 8 hours, must infrequently lift 30-50 pounds, and work in cold room conditions (34-40 degrees) the employee is regularly required to stand and walk for the duration of the production shift. The employee is infrequently required to sit; climb, balance; and stoop, kneel, or crouch.
A qualified candidate must:
Self-motivated with proven leadership skills.
Valid fork-lifting certificate
Proficient in Microsoft Office.
Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
Prior experience in food environment a plus.
Bilingual - English/Spanish beneficial.
Must be able to work in a team environment.
Must have a positive attitude.
Must have good written and oral communication skills.
Ability to work in fast-paced, effectively under pressure, and deadline-oriented environment.
Flexible availability: we work night and weekend shifts.
Advanced print reading skills
Basic shop math
Familiarity with dimensional inspection gages
Strong work ethic
Strong ability to work without supervision
Ability to follow written and verbal work instructions
Job Type: Full-time (40 hours per week, 10 hours per day) potential for overtime.
